Mission Brief

The objective, and how we met it.

// The Challenge

An ensemble is where generated video falls apart fastest. One character can be held with a good prompt; fifteen cannot, and the moment two of them share a frame the model starts averaging them into each other. The question was whether a cast that large could carry a minute of film across four locations and still read as the same people in every shot.

// What We Deployed

Sector 4 held a scene together with a previz: the camera and the blocking were decided in Blender first. This film had the opposite problem. There is no one room to stage — there is a temple at night, a laboratory, a Himalayan ridge at dawn and a valley full of running figures — and fifteen distinct characters who have to be recognisably the same people in all of them. So the thing that got fixed first was not the camera. It was the cast. Each principal was built as a turnaround sheet — front, three-quarter, profile, back — and the whole ensemble was then laid out as a single line-up on a plain background, which is what the generation was given as reference instead of a paragraph describing them. The proof is in two frames that were never meant to be a test: the same line of figures advancing through bombed-out ruins, and advancing through snow in the passes. Two environments, two lighting setups, one cast, and nobody's face changes between them.
